Direct Support Professional - Day Hab & Wrap Around

Position Title: DIRECT SUPPORT PROFSSIONAL - Day Hab & Wrap Around


We are currently seeking a DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL for our Day Habilitation & Wrap Around Programs.


In a Day Hab Direct Support and Wrap Around position you will support adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities by:

  1. Participating in the daily activities of the program, supervising the participants, and implementing recreational activities.
  2. Teaching independent living skills.
  3. Providing direct personal care for adult participants of our Day Program. This care may include, but is not limited to: personal hygiene, behavioral monitoring, recreational activities, meal preparation, and community integration.
  4. Accompanies individuals to off-site locations/activities, helping them to access and utilize community resources (i.e. shopping, recreation, entertainment, etc).
  5. Completing documentation as required by and in coordination with regulations and agency policies and procedures.
  6. Engage the individual in his/her chosen activities, which could include arts & crafts, outdoor play, games, etc.
  7. Imparts agency philosophy of “Equal Opportunity, Independence and Realization of Individual Potential” to children, families, program staff and community resources.
  8. Acts as a role model for program participants by interacting with others in a professional and respectful manner.
  9. Performs other duties at the discretion of the Program Director or his/her designee.

Hours of Employment:

Full-Time 40 hours/week - 8 hours per day Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00am-4:30pm

  1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  2. Experience working with people with developmental disabilities preferred.
  3. Valid and clean New York State Driver’s License.
  4. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
  5. Ability to become CPR and first aid certified and successfully complete required training courses.
  6. Physical Requirements include: sitting, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds, pulling and pushing wheelchairs and adaptive equipment, carrying, grasping, reaching, stooping and crouching, crawling, color determination, visual acuity, speaking clearly, listening to spoken communication, sense of taste and smell.
