Job Title Special Education Teacher - Temporary
Job Purpose:             

We are currently seeking a Temporary Special Education Teacher to join our team of Clinical Professionals in CP Rochester's Augustin Children’s Center.  Our children's center provides a full continuum of educational and therapeutic services for children, birth to kindergarten, with and without disabilities.  Individualized programs and attention from our experienced staff are delivered on our campus in an ideal, accessible suburban setting featuring a gymnasium, outdoor classroom, playground and a heated swimming pool.  Our renowned center seamlessly integrates children with disabilities and children without disabilities in a unique and rewarding educational environment.  This position reports to the Education Coordinator of our Children’s Department and Interacts regularly with children, classroom staff, program staff, parents/families, other agency staff and community representatives.

Hours of Employment: Mon – Fri 8:30am-4:00pm full-time during our 6 week summer program beginning July 9th and ending August 17th.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulates, implements, evaluates, and revises student plans in cooperation with the team.
  • Develops, implements, evaluates and revises a daily routine/schedule.
  • Coordinates and implements team activities and responsibilities in the child’s learning environment.
  • Performs testing and written evaluations as needed.
  • Formulates individual goals, objectives, and activities.
  • Provides aid and support for the transition to school process with families.
  • Determines schedules and coordinates special events and activities with other program staff and community representatives.
  • Assists with personal care as needed.
  • Completes documentation as required by the agency and regulatory bodies.
  • Conducts parent conferences and provides ongoing parent/family communication.
  • Attends meetings as assigned.
  • Achieves program and department goals by performing additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a permanent certification as a Special Education Teacher or a birth to grade 2 Student with Disabilities Certificate.
  • Must have a working knowledge of typical child development.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent, professional oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have demonstrated physical, mental and emotional ability to participate in developmentally appropriate activities for children.
  • Positions may require a valid, NYS Driver’s License and access to a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to work effectively with a team.
